White Knight Time Travel idea : People are suspecting..
Jaune and Weiss are at the Vytal Festival , each one with their respective teams , their mission has gone..well.. so far. Even without trying to change so much some things never change like Team CVFY and Prof.Port saving the city or Ruby meeting Penny...
But that doesn't matter compared to the titanic work they would have to do during this specific moment..it was now or never
~Weiss Side~
Ruby:WE DID IIIT!!!!....Anyone esle is starving?....
Weiss listened to Ruby and Blake's chat from the side , each time they have this small moments the more she thinks how everyone took Beacon's days from granted
Having to relieve the fight against Team ABRN made her notice how..unprepared they were ; even herself with her "Competent" perfomance wasn't still not enough to face that monster..
Weiss..
The Grimm entering Beacon..
Weiss..
The Witch's inner circle playing right under their noses..
WEISS..
Pyrrha and Penny along many other students being casualties of the..
WEISSS!
Weiss:W-W-What?!
Yang: Your scroll is ringing , shouldn't you answer it?
Weiss noticed her scroll , the contact named "FATHER"..
Right..her time at Beacon was almost up..
Weiss:I will call him later , thanks for making me know Yang..
The Blonde Brawler has noticed her friend weird..this last few day , she can't say why..but it's there , spacing out of chats most of the time or reacting to certain words like Destiny , Maiden or even mentioning locations like Haven Academy can get her all shaky
Right now Ice Queen is looking at her Sis talking with Emerald and her silent friend like she's trying way too hard to keep herself civil , her face may not show it but that tense posture and hands behind shouted something was wrong
And to say the last person she saw acting this way her Dad after..her Supermom left was all she needed to know , Ice Queen's hiding something and she will find out
~Jaune's side~
Jaune did miss Beacon , the academy.. , but coming right back wouldn't make it any better..quite the contrary it shows him how somethings must remain as memories..
The Vytal Festival just started and the mood seems festive enough for him to enjoy a little. Children playing around , teens being themselves truly a moment to breathe fresh air
Miss : Gather around as I tell the story of the Girl who fell through the World!
Jaune tenses hearing that , it's just a woman reading a story to a bunch of kids..nothing dangerous..
Yet..
He takes a look at his armour , clean not rusted..his face is still young and Crocea Mors is still complete..
Ren: Jaune?
Jaune:W-What?!
Nora: You have been standing there for a while , did the story peak your interest? Alyx's story is a classic! The Curious Cat is my favorite character! So mischevious!
If looks could kill , Nora's smile would have been erased a while ago..
Jaune:That Cat is nothing but troubles..
Nora:What? Don't tell me you are a fan of the Red Prince? Or the Rusted Knight?
Sensing hostility , Ren tried to change the topic..
Ren:Why don't we go with Pyrrha? She's saved us a nice spot in that Mistralian restaurant.
Both teammates agree , Nora leaves because she has won another petty argument..but Jaune seemed so personal about it..The Girl who fell through the World is just a Children's story..why is he so defensive about it?
Lie Ren is someone who can read the room quite well and to his knowledge..there's something wrong with Jaune..
He acts like..an adult sometimes , there's nothing wrong with that but it seems off..
Even their stategies , they are a group of Four , Team JNPR..but Jaune always acts like only Nora and him are part of the team
Ren even hears his silent sobs when he has nightmares , the words "Cinder" "Kill" "Penny" "Pyrrha" is all he has as evidence , trying to make sense of said word it would be something like
Cinder will kill Pyrrha and Penny
That sounded so..dumb , Cinder is a student along her team but he would ask Jaune later right now they have a fight to win
👀👀👀
So many of these WK Time travel asks are from their POV, I LOVE this look into their friends’ view

So when Vol 9 was airing, I saved this above gif of Weiss looking at the Rusted Knight. It's short and quick, but I always thought it was an interesting pose they did for her. Like, look at how the rest of her team looks:
Ruby and Yang are surprised with Yang looking a bit more surprised. Blake is beside herself to be meeting another character, which given she's a book lover and had more or less been taking the lead throughout their Ever After journey, it would be more understandable for her to geek out over meeting him. Her stance almost mirrors Weiss' stance but not nearly as much. Her hands are closer to her waist compared to Weiss', which are raised up near her breast.
So what am I implying from this? The Rusted Knight was Weiss' fictional crush growing up.
Think about it. When Weiss was listing off two other characters back in Episode 4 “A Cat Most Curious," she named Lively Carpenter and the Rusted Knight. She described the Carpenter as "sweet" and Rusted Knight as "handsome." Now, one could make the argument that she only referred to each as "one" but I'm going based on the order she had listed them. So let's think about it. She described the Carpenter with a personality trait but described the Knight by a physical attribute. Now, we can assume The Girl Who Fell Through the World is like its real-world counterparts, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and that it has illustrations. Yet I don't think the Jaune was ever illustrated since, while the girls might not have recognized him prior to meeting him, they might have years later since they IMMEDIATELY recognized him upon meeting in the Ever After. Oh the Rusted Knight most certainly would have been drawn, just not Jaune. So Weiss describing him as handsome is something she had to take the word of from the author and believed. I wonder if she ever imagined what he looked like under the armor? Did she have her own vision of him?
You know, we learned back in Volume 2's “Extracurricular” that Weiss has been pursued by suitors because of her last name, similar to her father marrying her mother. I no doubt believe that's why Weiss is picky about dating, and why she was so disinterested in Jaune's attempts. She saw how her father treated her mother, and vehemently does NOT want that for her life. I think, though, she may also be slightly swayed by her crush on the Rusted Knight. He was described as handsome by Lewis and didn't seem to be painted in a bad light. Maybe his depiction of a good, honest man influenced her taste. It's all just head canons, but an interview with Weiss' VA Kara a major White Knight supporter said that Weiss' type is someone who is mature and stepping up for other people. Is it possible some of this came from the Rusted Knight? He was much older than Alyx and Lewis, and since he hailed from Remnant, he wasn't zany like the Ever Afterans, making him mature. Also, he was helpful and was almost like a guide for the group up until Alyx poisoned him. That could be seen as him stepping up, especially since many of the Ever Afterans, while not evil, may not have been as helpful as him or the Cat who was just using the two humans to get out of the Ever After.
I'm going to stop there because I didn't mean for this to get out of hand. I was intending to just post this gif and do a quick little "hehe, look who has a crush" and somehow that spiraled out of control.
Anyway, Vol 9 has been over for a while, Weiss and Jaune have grown emotionally and in their relationship, and I'm curious to see what will come now that RWBY's moving to Viz Media.

outfits
I just saw a post trying to argue that in RWBY the female outfits are more sexualized then the male cast.....because the female cast tends to "show more skin", and also part of this same post is talking about Jaune's armor and wondering if there is a story reason for that and questioning why more people don't wear armor in the show.
RWDE's once again showing their lack of understanding. First, the attire of the female cast is not really sexualized, especially compared to some redesings certain folks have made. Second, Monty and CRWBY purposlly put in "anti-upskit tech" so we see nothing when people like Ruby and Weiss do flips. Third, given the fact that things such as "individual identity" are part of the narrative it makes sense for the cast to be in outfits that are more focused on personal tastes rather than practicality. As for Jaune's armor, the story is about his growth. Jaune took the old hand-me-down armor and weapon and faked his way into Beacon because he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his forebearers. He wanted to be the big hero. He is stuck in the past. Then after The Fall he integrates some metal's from Pyrrha's gear and weapons into his newly reforged stuff. It isn't a lot, but now he carries his fallen partner with him. However he is more focused on offense, indicated by the Claymore Mode of his sword. After he talks with his team in Argus and they make it to Atlas he takes another step with a retooling of his gear. He gets more balance in his armor and his weapon focus turns to his shield which is now armed with a gravity dust reflector. But then things go wrong and he falls into the Ever After where he spends years allowing in his regrets as he is back to being stuck in the past, hence why even fully armored he is covered in rust. He hasn't properlly taken care of himself. When they get to Vacuo he will likely rebalance himself once more now that he can be with his team again and we will see a brand new look. As for why more character's don't wear armor, again it is purely aethsetic choice both in and out of universe. Out of univers, the character's without armor stand out more and feel more like the anime and video game characters that Monty and crew were inspired by, and this in turn lets the few with armor stand out in their own way as well. In-universe it lets more characters show their personal freedoms/limitations in their dress. It helps reflect parts of themselves. A number of folks in this fandom have already broken down such design choices.

Haskell > anything else
Haskell is the best programming language because it lets you write a fully functioning web server with three lines of code and zero understanding of how anything works You don't write programs, you declare intentions, and the compiler decides if you're worthy Every other language lets you make mistakes. Haskell waits patiently then destroys your ego at compile time Besides, who needs to 'build skill' in programming anyway?
Not even comparable to python, which is just... so annoyingly uncomplicated and pointless (to make good python syntax you need to make it as un-python as possible) and javascript? Who needs fast languages anyway? So unsatisfying And don't even get me started on C, C++ or C#, which are literally the same language by the way Rust? Bro, just send me the virus already. I don't care PHP? What does that even stand for? Poverty Holding Person? Like you? Java? You stopped being relevant about thirty years ago Swift? Buddy, I do not care about your apple vision pro R? You couldn't even spare another letter? What are you, C-- or something? Ruby? Just admit that Ruby on Rails died last decade... Go? Go where? Out the door? Because currently, that is what Go developers are being asked to do by employers Perl? I don't even know what that language is

Hii! Love your writing. Do you do any sub character content? If so could you do Sub Muzan x Fem or GN reader?
Hihi!! I'm very excited to have a first request! I actually had to go back and watch the fourth season and read his wiki page because WOW this is gonna be a DOOZY to write! I mean this is a man who has every demon praying for mercy at any cost. But, I love a good challenge, so let's get into it!
Merciful - Sub!Muzan x Demon!Fem!Reader
CW: DEMON SLAYER SPOILERS, NSFW, Gore, Death
Note: I have really only watched the anime, so anything from the manga will stump me here ^^
It was 150 years ago when you first met him.
"You BASTARD! Let him go!"
Human and feeble. So weak and small to even your own kind. A towering man stood above you with pure spite behind his green eyes. Muscular with sleek black hair tied tightly behind him. In his hands he held your little brother, ready to slit his throat with a sickle.
"What, him? I caught this boy trying to swipe from my shop! If I had half a mind, I would slice him into tiny pieces."
You were but 18, shivering and scared. Your own blade looked pointless compared to his- only being a mere dagger. And yet, you clung to it tight. This rusted piece of junk was your only chance of your brother's survival.
"I said let him go! Not just for his sake, but yours!"
"And what are YOU going to-"
With the quickness of an eagle, the blade in your hand was digging into his shoulder. You clung to this man as if you depended on him not to fall. It's then you plunge into his back. Again. Again. And again.
"Sister, stop! Stop!"
Your brother was trying to flail from the man's arms- trying to free himself from his grip. It was, however, of no use. Even with a crazed woman stabbing into his body, his sickle made quickwork of the boy's neck.
SWING!
Thud...
"BROTHER!!"
And from there, those moments were a blur. Faint images came back to remind you of your crimes. The shop owner's once proud physique now a pulverized, sad corpse. Bystanders horrified by the situation now also blood on your hands and bodies on the road. Even nearby pets ended up slaughtered by your palms. But... You wanted more. Even if you were still human, this man deserved the most painful death and afterlife you could imagine. Taking his sickle, you carved his chest wide open and ripped out his heart.
"Now wait, young one. Wouldn't you want eating him to matter more?"
Now this man... He gave off a completely different feel than the man who'd killed your brother. Despite a similar look, he held ruby red eyes that peered right through you. You pause for a moment with the heart in hand.
"And just who are you?"
"Such raw emotion and strength... And yet still so weak. You couldn't even save your brother, and here you are, eating a man's heart just for your body to waste it."
"You don't know me! I'll-"
With a finger to your mouth, your body freezes.
"Hush. I'm here to help, just for a small price. I can tell you'll be of great use..."
---
"Lord Muzan~"
You call from one of the halls, flashing this man a daring look. From the moment he met you, you would never let this man have the respect he's earned. Even the Kizuki tremble in fear just uttering the wrong word to him, and yet for you? He would tolerate just enough teasing to let you have fun.
"Now of all times, ____? Can't you see I'm busy?"
His tone is cold, but your glare is chilling.
"Ten months, Muzan. You've left me wasting away for ten months! I understand tending to your other wives and taking care of those demon slayers, but ten months?"
His silence speaks volumes... But you? You've never realized the pure fear that comes with messing with Muzan. He's never put you in your place, and maybe... Maybe a twisted part of him likes that. You remind him of the authority he only had when he was human. No one could command or demand anything. Except... You.
"Come with me, Muzan... Please, just spend one night with me..."
Those (color) eyes you give him... His glare simmers down into a rare soft gaze, backing away from his desk to approach you.
"You're the most fortunate woman alive, ___. Any other would fall to their knees if they spoke to me that way."
"That sounds like a yes to me."
---
For every rough move Muzan would make, you were twice as bad. The poor lord of demons was pinned by the hands while you rode his cock for everything it was worth. Your fangs were oh so close to his neck, and yet Muzan was only encouraging that you bite him. Just one move and he could pulverize you. End your life over your own rush for power. And yet, you were headstrong and uncaring. His breathing was quivering and shaky, eyes of blood red looking up to yours with a submissive lust.
"Like that, dear- Fuck! Like that!"
You could barely focus on his blissfully soft voice. The most powerful man to exist and yet he's under you... Your fangs sink right into his neck yet stay absolutely careful not to drop an ounce of blood. After all, wasting anything precious of his was a death sentence. When his hands shift under yours, you let them go to see what he does.
"Don't be shy now... I know you want more..."
His voice is so quiet and soothing that your focus slips for just a moment, just enough time for him to grip your sides and push you down on him. Keeping you absolutely still. Is this a trick? Some sort of act? You sit up for a moment to look down, seeing him with a playful smile.
"Muzan... Are you sure you want to toy with me?"
One of his hands slip down to tease you as his member sits inside. Pulsing and needing more despite his cool demeanor.
"I want to see that fire I know you have. I let you take over too easily this time... Prove you're worthy to actually let me finish inside of you, ___."
Before the blink of an eye, your claws are quick to dig into his own sides in an attempt to keep going. And yet, one of his hands keeps you still.
"I know you have it in you. I can see that frustration in your eyes, dear."
Oh, you have a plan alright. While your hands worked to mess with his body and neck, your legs were building up strength to keep things going. Just a little longer... One of your claws lunges for his neck, Muzan quick to catch it with the hand that was teasing you.
"Too eas-"
While he was only slightly distracted by your lunge, the sheer force of your legs resumed the session despite Muzan's grip. The free hand practically pouncing to hold his chest down while your speed threatened to break the bed. Once playful eyes now looked to you in awe as he twitched and let out just the tiniest of pathetic whimpers.
"Don't you toy with me, Muzan. I know you like this too much to stop me!"
He really couldn't hold back. Just mere seconds pass before ropes of his semen come through and fill your insides. Yet, your body is absolutely sure not to let a single drop seep from your womb. You can't go wasting even his cum, now can you? Shocked red eyes look up to you, now with a renewed sense of pride.
"Y-you're so damn lucky I'm merciful towards you..."

RWBY Volume 9 Was A Total Missed Opportunity:
Putting this out there right now. Volume 9 is by far my favorite volume of RWBY for many reasons which I will not be addressing in this post, but there are a few things that have been on my mind since it's been released where I feel the storyline went wrong and could have been something so much more meaningful for the character's story arcs and development.
Starting off with our main man or should I say our old man Jaune Arc. His presence throughout Vol. 9 felt out of place not just for his character, but also the way his development was handled didn't feel right in the slightest. Becoming a crazy old crackpot because he foolishly made bad decision after bad decision, completely altering and undoing a lot of his character's timeline, and turning into this sort of secondary antagonist for Team RWBY made no sense to me. The way he said so many out of pocket things throughout the different episodes, including completely crossing a line with Ruby and being insensitive towards her mental and emotional condition instead of showing genuine concern like he normally would have, made me cringe to where I wasn't enjoying what I was watching anymore. Not in a good way!
Here's how I would have done it:
Going back to the very end of volume 8 where we see Jaune running towards the portal and barely missing it by mere inches, followed by seeing him fall into the dark abyss and joining the same fate as Team RWBY and Neo. Instead of that, we see him jumping through the portal at the very last second and making it to Vacuo by the skin of his teeth. The others see him and question why he's alone and where Team RWBY was, only for him to go "Uh..." and then the screen cuts to black and the credits start rolling.
We're gonna skip the three year hiatus and jump right into the beginning of Vol. 9 where only Team RWBY and Neo have fallen into the Ever After. For the first few episodes leading up to the reveal of the Rusted Knight, I don't think much needs to change except for the fact that they won't ever encounter Jaune, but they will still encounter the Rusted Knight who, in this version, is someone that would have had the entire fandom shook to their core when the big reveal of the Rusted Knight's identity happened: Pyrrha.
Now, how would she get to this point, you might ask? Well, remember when she got pierced by Cinder's Arrow and her body seemed to disintegrate? This scene:
This death compared to all the other characters who were killed off was unique in the fact that there was no body left behind and it almost appeared her energy was transported to another place. Hmm, perhaps another realm such as the In Between or the Ever After? Why this happened, in my opinion, was because of the use of someone else's semblance. We know very little about Pyrrha's family and have only seen her mother on screen once, so we don't know much about her backstory or semblance either. However, if her semblance worked anything like Raven's to where she needed to be attached to someone in order for her semblance to work and transfer her loved ones to a safer location to escape a deadly threat, now we have something. What if her mom's semblance transported the body to another realm of her choice right before the moment of death? (I like to call it a "divine intervention" semblance.) If that's the case, then why wouldn't it make sense for a mother's love to send her daughter somewhere familiar and (relatively) safe and still accessible to Remnant? The Ever After was based on a children's tale that everyone knew growing up and Pyrrha being as smart as she is would instantly recognize where she was transported to. Maybe she had knowledge of her mother's semblance and knew this might have happened one day, or maybe not. I find the one scene her mother is in to be very interesting because while she was talking to Jaune, she had a very bitter-sweet attitude about it and almost talked as if she knew more than she let on, but I digress.
In the story's timeline, when Team RWBY arrives in the Ever After, Pyrrha would have been there already for a couple of years. That would have given her enough time to establish herself and explore the different acres because let's be real here, Pyrrha wouldn't have stumbled upon the time travel fruit and messed around with it like Jaune did, nor would she have focused all her energy into the people of the land even though she would protect them with her life if she had to, but at the end of the day, she was just trying to figure out a way home. Once she stumbles across Team RWBY, it would all make sense why the Tree didn't let her return to Remnant yet. By this point, I'm sure she would have encountered Alyx, Lewis, and the Curious cat, probably handled the situation a lot better than Jaune did, and give Team RWBY a cautionary tale about the Curious Cat in a way that wasn't bitter or vengeful. The bee's having their special moment still would have happened, the team's fallout with the Curious Cat still would have gone down, and then we get to the scene with Neo's Jabber Walker clones and Ruby has her mental breakdown and identity crisis. I don't see Pyrrha blaming Ruby for what happened to the Paper Pleasers despite her immense sorrow for the loss of her only friends she had during her time in the Ever After. Her experiences with the Paper Pleasers would have been way different too because there's no way she'd be a gold-hearted tyrant like Jaune was painted out to be. I do see Ruby blaming herself and still running off anyway because she feels like a burden and a failure as a leader. I didn't enjoy the way Jaune was the center of focus when Ruby was very clearly in a dangerous state of mind and I'm positive Pyrrha would have picked up on it right away and address it to Ruby's team after the fact and not go off on her for not doing enough.
Team RWPY would go on the search for Ruby and still find her in Neo's torture dungeon, which would have been just as painful to watch, especially from Pyrrha's point of view. Ruby having to watch Pyrrha die in Vol.3 and now she had to witness Ruby "die" in Vol. 9 is kind of a trippy coincidence that fits so well. The only difference being Pyrrha immediately taking the initiative to find Ruby before the cat does and the final battle being way more epic. Jaune certainly gained a lot of battle experience throughout the series, but Pyrrha was always ahead of him in that respect and without a doubt would have sharpened her skills to perfection while she was on her own in the Ever After. Ruby emerges as a new version of herself, they defeat the Curious Cat, Neo ascends, and all of the girls finally get to go home together, hand in hand.
I can even go as far as to say this would have made Vol. 9 Beyond so much better too. Picture it, Team RWBY and Pyrrha leaving the portal and the first person to see them is Jaune. The potential for Arkos here is so strong it kills me inside! They'd have a raw moment between each other, there'd be lots of crying on Jaune and maybe even Pyrrha's part too, a long hug, and most definitely a romantic kiss that would have tied their relationship arc together in such a perfect way. It would have brought Pyrrha back and that's honestly all I want.
Of course, this is all just for shits and giggles, but I'd love to hear what y'all think or if you have something else to add! ^-^

Theory: Cinder will capture Jaune in Vacuo portion of the story
It's me, back again with another theory based on Joan of Arc story. This time, trying to figure out how her capture by Burgundians will be realized in RWBY story.... if we ever get to that part of the story. If it were to happen, it will most likely be in Volume 11 (I might make Volume 10 Joan of Arc theory one day).
I'd suggest reading my theory to get better understanding of who do I read as what character and how do events that already happened figure out in their respective story timelines. If not, I'll still make quick summary whenever something from that theory pops up.
First of all, let's start with why. Why would Jaune be captured at any point of the story? Jaune is one of the rare characters in the story who's primary allusion gets captured in their story (other being Ruby), and no, I don't think Jaune being captured by Ace Ops will suffice for this. Joan of Arc' time in captivity was comparable to her time serving as a soldier (both being roughly one year), so I'd find it pretty weird if Jaune never got captured as major plot point.
Timeline wise, it also matches. Volumes 4-5 match Loire campaign (pursuing the enemy, enemy fails to ambush them and suffers major defeat), Volume 6 is Rheims coronation (usage of Lantern/King is granted wisdom by Ampulla, both being oil containers), Volumes 7-8 are siege of Paris (both being greatest cities of their respective regions, Joan/Jaune suffered major defeat and retreated last over the bridge). I go over this in more detail in the timeline theory I linked above. Volume 9 is the only one I cannot connect to major event of Joan of Arc story, although that could be because Jaune became Rusted Knight during that portion of the story, temporarily ceasing to be Joan of Arc. This would make Vacuo portion of the story, theoretical Volumes 10-11, Joan of Arc' campaign against Perrinet Gressart, battle of Lagny and siege of Compiegne. Compiegne was the last battle Joan of Arc participated in, leading to her capture. So based on this, if Jaune ever gets captured, Vacuo portion of the story is the safest bet.
Cool, but why Cinder as his captor? Joan of Arc was captured by Burgundian army and Cinder matches Burgundian role in Joan of Arc story. Both side with enemy to achieve their goals (Burgundy sides with England, Cinder sides with Salem) ,both are power hungry with the goal of eventual freedom (Burgundy wanted to separate itself from France and become independent Kingdom), both have personal vendetta against enemy leader (Ruby reads as king Dauphin). On top of that, soldier that captured Joan of Arc was archer and Cinder is one of the rare characters in the series to use bow and arrow instead of firearms. Additionally, Joan of Arc was under shared jurisdiction of two enemy commanders, Lionel Bastard of Vendome and John of Luxembourg. Former had a lame hand, latter had a missing eye. If you overlay their injuries, you get Cinder again.
Why would Cinder capture him is different question who's answer will vary depending on interpretation of the events.
Now that I explained why do I think it's incredibly plausible thing to happen, let's get to the interpretations.
First let me start with interpretation I strongly reject.
Theory 1: Cinder won't capture Jaune, she will kill him on the spot. This is one of those obvious interpretations dating back all the way back to early Volumes, ever since Cinder was revealed to be the fire user. She is fire, he is Joan of Arc, bam, perfect match (I guess Cinder will give Jaune and Pyrrha matching sweaters). There are couple of reasons I reject this interpretation.
I am sceptical about Jaune having tragic ending to his story. While it does make sense on paper considering Joan of Arc is his allusion, it doesn't quite work with Jaune's story. Joan of Arc had series of triumphs before losing some battles at the end and getting captured. Jaune basically gets none of that, or at least scraps of successes Joan had. On top of that, he gets significantly more failures and suffering compared to Joan. Killing him like this would be like kicking the man while he is already down.
Story seems to reject Jaune's martyrdom, ironically in his battle with Cinder back in Volume 5. He goes in admitting he doesn't care about his own life as long as others succeed. Issue Jaune has is lack of self worth due to his perceived uselessness. For him, character development would be learning to value his own life and not throwing it away for what he thinks is greater good. Having him die in combat basically invalidates that. Him trying to throw away his life in Volume 5 wouldn't be an issue in that case, it's the fact he tried to throw it away at the wrong point of the story.
Having Cinder kill him would feel pretty weird. Common aspect of their encounters is that she can kill him at almost any point but for some reason chooses not to (be it arrogance, sadism or something else entirely), even when she logically really should (there is no reason to not go for a kill when Jaune denied her Maiden power). Having Cinder kill him would feel like she at some arbitrary point decided to flip metaphorical kill switch and finally do it.
Now to interpretations I find more likely
Theory 2: Jaune will be captured and then turned into Grimm. This is taking Joan of Arc story pretty straight forward with some twists. In this version of the events, Cinder will capture Jaune, but not kill him, most likely sadism or because of something Salem ordered her to do. Burgundians ransomed Joan of Arc to the English, which will be mirrored with Cinder giving Jaune to Salem. She will turn him into Grimm akin to the Hound and force him to fight his friends. This will represent Joan's death as heretic. Joan of Arc was re-trialed years later at the orders of Dauphin, who is Ruby in this version of the story. Duke of Alencon (who I read as Weiss) was one of the witnesses during rehabilitation trial, so I guess she'll help out as well. Ruby will purify Jaune with some assistance from Weiss and save his life, symbolizing Joan's rehabilitation.
Next thing is not Joan of Arc related, but what the hell, when will I ever get an opportunity to mention this. There is a another Grimm fairy tale about Snow White, in which she has sister Rose Red. This always bothered me, since it works so well with Ruby and Weiss but story seemingly has no relevance in RWBY plot. They met a talking bear they took care of. Then they met evil dwarf several times, always helping him, but he is always ungrateful. In the end, bear killed a dwarf, revealing himself to be cursed prince dwarf turned into a bear so he can steal his treasure. Snow White then married cursed prince and Rose Red married his brother, the end. So, what does this has to do with anything I said paragraph before? Well, if Jaune does become Grimm and he becomes let's say, Ursa like Grimm, then things get more interesting. He becomes cursed prince from the story that ends up marrying Snow White, making this effectively Whiteknight (Cinder can be then read as evil dwarf since she'd be one responsible for his curse and she stole his treasure, Pyrrha). This would also imply Rosegarden since Rose Red marries prince's brother (Oscar being another cursed prince).
This interpretation does rob Jaune of lot of agency post capture since he'd be esentially mind controlled, but it does hit enough Joan of Arc story beats for me to consider it plausible. This would also shift Cinder to being primarily Weiss' rival since Jaune would be out of commission.
Theory 3: This is step one in Cinder's redemption arc. Time to get back to that particular rabbit hole, this time with 100% more Stockholm syndrome. This one will have whole lot speculative canon, but I'll try to reinforce each point with Joan of Arc parallels.
Ok, how the hell does that work? Well first, we need to get back to that double timeline theory I linked at the beginning. To sum it up, timeline 1 goes from Joan's arrival at Chinon to her heresy trial, timeline 2 goes from Joan's childhood to her victory at Orleans. These two timelines overlap creating complete narrative (V5 is both Joan's Loire campaign and trip to Vaucouleurs, V8 is both siege of Paris and Joan's village being sacked, etc). I went into reasons why I use this method in that theory.
Anyways, last event I traced to 2nd timeline is Joan's village being sacked. She spent her time in city of Neufchateau before departing for Vaucoleurs to meet Robert de Baudricourt for the third time. Quick summary, Cinder is Baudricourt in this timeline since both dynamic and timeline placements of her meetings with Jaune match Baudricourt's meetings with Joan. Both times, Baudricourt dissmisses Joan (first time publically humiliating her), but third time he relents (motivated by his desperate circumstances and Joan's correct prediction of Dauphin losing key battle near Orleans) and sends her to Dauphin's castle in Chinon. Side note, Cinder also plays the role of Dauphin in timeline 2 (backstories match, both have a crown that they cannot reach, both were raised by powerful queen dowager after running away from their home) which I don't feel is contradictory for the reasons I go more in my timeline theory. Additionally, Joan gained a favor of two of Baudricourt's soldiers, Jean of Metz and Bertrand de Poulengy. This surprised Baudricourt considering both were notorious troublemakers. I translated those two as Emerald and Mercury in my timeline theory.
Cool, but what does this has to do with Joan's capture? Well, we overlay this portion of timeline 2 onto Compiegne portion of timeline 1 to get the full story.
First to get back to Compiegne: Burgundian duke Philip broke the peace treaty with Dauphin and attacked Compiegne. Joan went there with relatively small army and in some sources, against Dauphin's orders. She rallied out to fight Burgundians, held well, but ultimately getting captured. Burgundians were unable to take Compiegne.
So full translation to RWBY would be: Cinder manages to outsmart Ruby and gets into position where it's likely she'll take Maiden power and/or Relic. Jaune shows up as the last line of defense, likely fighting her together side by side with Emerald and Mercury (I believe Mercury will be redeemed in Volume 10, partially due to Joan of Arc story). This can be interesting callback to either Cinder, Emerald and Mercury taking on Amber or Jaune confronting Cinder with Emerald and Mercury by her side like in Volume 5 (their roles now being reversed). Similar to Volume 5, Jaune will likely hit several sour spots for Cinder (this is reference to Joan telling Baudricourt her unfavorable visions and them turning out to be true). They lose after putting up a good fight but buy enough time for others to reinforce and prevent Cinder from obtaining the Maiden power and/or Relic (or Cinder takes too much damage in the fight). Cinder makes spur of the moment decision and captures Jaune while running away (this matches Compiegne, Jaune gets captured but enemy doesn't achieve their objective). Capture kind of works with timeline 2: if Cinder is both Baudricourt and Dauphin, then she is effectively sending Jaune to herself, that to me reads like capture.
Several of her comrades tried to free Joan, but by the time they reached the place where she was held as prisoner, she is already moved to different castle. This could also happen in the show, breaking the trend of main cast successfully rescuing their captured friend from previous volumes. Jaune would then be taken to Salem with Cinder (who'll likely get punished for her failures) arguing she can exchange Jaune for location of Relic of Choice (maintaining the part of the story Joan is held for ransom). Similar to theory 2, I'd expect Jaune's capture to last at least one full volume.
Ok, that's cool and all, but what does this have to do with Cinder's redemption in any shape or form:
They will be forced together for extended period of time. Additionally, there will be nobody else for them to interact with. Eventually, they'll have to interact in some shape or form. I would expect lot of initial setbacks considering Joan of Arc attempted to escape twice. But still, it would be pretty weird if they just grumbled at each other whole time and then went back to fighting. Come on man, they are foils that don't know they are foils, do something with that.
Neither can hurt each other. Jaune cannot hurt her since he would be her prisoner, she cannot hurt him without risking the prospect of deal falling off (and as shown when threatened by Neo, Cinder considers her death plausible outcome if she screws up the Relic). This means Jaune could meaningfully verbally challenge Cinder without the risk of dying (hello Watts). This also wouldn't be reach to happen, considering he did similar thing in Volume 5. Basically, Cinder will be stuck with Jaune as voice of consciousness entire volume without being able to get rid off it.
This would transition relatively well into Indecisive King story. In that story, Widow (basically Jaune) spends time in King's castle before eventually confronting him over Relic of Choice. Joan of Arc similarly spent time in Dauphin's castle at Chinon. In both stories Jaune coded character spent time with Cinder coded character before eventually changing them for better.
As usual, I decided to make Cinder portion needlessly long and complicated. Anyways, what are your thoughts? Did I miss any plausible interpretations?

En Pointe With The Devil Book 2, Ch 2
Augustus became obsessed with trying to make the perfect pizza when he was eleven years old, right after he and his mom saw Eat, Pray, Love with Julia Roberts. Perhaps because he was in the throes of a growth spurt and ravenous most of the time, he couldn’t get images of flat crust, ruby red sauce, melty cheese and fresh basil out of his mind.
For his birthday his mom cobbled together all the ingredients for an authentic margarita pizza: mozzarella, Italian flour, EVOO, and tomato sauce made from real Italian tomatoes. The pizza they made that day was very good, but Augustus felt it didn’t compare to the pizza he saw Julia Roberts devour on their box television set. He remembered wanting to jump through the screen (just like the girl from The Ring) for that particular pizza.
The cruel irony was that he was now sitting at that exact pizzeria in Naples, Italy, and he could barely taste anything. Maksim and Stefan were sitting right across from him, digging in and chatting in rapid-fire Romanian.
Large, communal tables lined the interior of the famous eatery, and strangers sat next to each other for a taste of what made Julia Roberts almost orgasmic. The place was packed. Augustus could have easily slipped a note to the person on his right, but judging by the fact they spoke Mandarin and pointed to a picture of what they wanted to order, it was probably a lost cause. Even if they spoke English it would probably be a lost cause anyways.
Instead, Augustus could only stare at the framed photo of Julia Roberts enjoying a life changing pizza that hung on the wall. The pizza may have been life changing for her, but Augustus needed a little more than a pizza to change his life at the moment.
Augustus had a flash of hope when Maksim told him they were going to the airport. He hoped his friends had alerted authorities. He imagined being escorted to safety once the security officers saw his name on their screens. But his hopes were quickly dashed when they entered through the back gate of the airport and drove right up to a private jet. Nobody checked his passport or ID, and no one seemed particularly interested in who he was.
Once the plane was in flight, Maksim handed Augustus a bag that contained a pair of light jeans, a hoodie with a large logo Augustus didn’t recognize, a pair of sneakers and some socks. All still had tags and everything fit perfectly. When he came out from the bathroom Maksim threw him a thumbs up before returning his attention to his laptop.
Now, just an hour after landing in Naples, they were eating pizza. Maksim noticed Augustus wasn’t wolfing down food at his typical pace.
“Eat.” Maksim ordered. At that moment Augustus heard a gun cock and froze. His head snapped up just in time to see the tourist next to him take a picture of his pizza with a Nikon. Augustus’s heart was hammering inside his chest, but Maxim and Stefan hadn’t even flinched. “Before it gets cold.” Maksim added before he casually finished his last slice. Stefan’s round tray had been empty for almost ten minutes.
Augustus hesitantly took a bit of his margarita pizza. Even on the precipice of death he couldn’t deny that it was delicious. The waiter motioned for them to hurry as the line outside began to spill over into the street, but a pointed glare Stefan ensured he didn’t return until Augustus finished.
Their next stop was an imposing building that sat behind a tall iron gate, its bars streaked with rust. Behind the gate lay a quiet cobblestoned courtyard surrounded by concrete walls that were anointed with faded graffiti. Maksim walked ahead of Augustus with an unhurried confidence, while Stefan lingered behind, his steps deliberate and slow.
Augustus was led to an ordinary apartment with three rooms and a small kitchen and dining area. It was normal. Too normal. Whose it was, Augustus didn’t know—and he didn’t want to ask. Stefan made his way through the rooms, meticulously flicking on one light after another and looking into the bathrooms, closets, and under the beds. Maksim and Augustus waited in the living room until he came back and gave a small nod.
“It’s late, daragoi.” Maksim said. On the plane, he’d started calling Tus that—daragoi.
Daragoi, are you thirsty? Here’s some clothes, Daragoi. Daragoi, take your vitamins.
“You can sleep in,” Maksim continued. “I have some things to attend to and I’ll be back tomorrow. Stefan will stay with you. If you want to go anywhere, let him know.”
Augustus glanced at Stefan. His face was unreadable, like usual. “Your room is the one on the left.” Maksim gestured toward a door. Augustus nodded and went to the room, closing the door with a soft click. He noticed the lock was missing from the door. Then he realized the room was noticeably absent of windows. A neatly folded pair of pajamas waited for him on folded white sheets. Beside the bed was a small mountain of shopping bags, overflowing with toiletries and clothes.
“Goodnight!” Maksim called.
He slipped into bed fully clothed and buried himself underneath the comforter. He could still hear Stefan and Maksim speaking in Romanian, their tones shifting between sharp and subdued. Whatever had them preoccupied on the plane seemed to follow them to the apartment. The memory of the blood soaked room flickered in his mind like a bad reel of film. When it came to Maksim’s profession, he figured it was better to stay in the dark. All he needed to do was dance.
The next morning Augustus tiptoed to the living room to find it empty. He went into the kitchen, and found a plate with toast and cut fruit on the counter. The knife block on the counter was empty making the cut fruit a mystery.
“Awake?”
“Jesus Christ!” Augustus yelped.
Stefan stood in the doorway of the kitchen, taking up the entire space with his huge frame. He sipped something in a tiny ceramic cup.
“Coffee?” he asked Augustus, holding up the dollhouse cup with two fingers. He was professionally dressed in a white shirt and trousers.
“Sure?” Augustus replied. Stefan moved past him to a machine on the counter and began pouring coffee beans into the hopper. After a painfully long two minutes he handed Augustus his own dollhouse cup.
“Thanks,” Augustus mumbled. He breathed in the steam spiraling from the inky black liquid. One whiff was enough to tell him this wasn’t coffee. It was rocket fuel disguised as coffee. Without hesitation he threw it back like a shot. It seared his throat on the way down.
Stefan paused mid-sip and raised his eyebrow.
Augustus held the empty cup awkwardly, unsure of what to do next. It wasn’t until Stefan finished after a few more sips and placed it next to the sink that Augustus put his cup down next to it.
“Shower.” Stefan said bluntly. Augustus didn’t know whether to take that as an order or a suggestion. Stefan donned a pair of bright yellow rubber gloves, picked up a soapy sponge, and pointed wordlessly toward a bathroom down the hall.
Augustus hoped the bathroom would have a window, but was disappointed (and not too surprised) when it didn’t. When he appeared later in his new clothes, Stefan was sitting in the living room, flipping through the TV channels. Augustus retreated into the hallway. He had noticed two other two bedroom doors that were shut. There had to be windows in one of those rooms.
And if there were? Would he try to run?
He reached out hesitantly, fingers brushing against the doorknob of the first door. A floorboard creaked behind him.Augustus froze.
Stefan stood at the entrance to the hallway, watching him with his trademark unreadable expression. Augustus’s blood turned to ice as he lowered his hand, every nerve in his body screaming you fucked up!
Stefan silently moved toward him, reached around and twisted the doorknob. The door opened with a soft creak. Without a word, he moved to the next door and did the same. Both rooms had windows. Stefan stood cross-armed in the hall and his message was crystal clear: fuck around and find out.
“We go out.” Stefan said abruptly, and turned down the hallway. Augustus paused a moment before padding behind him like a ghost.
Stefan offered no explanation about where they were headed. The streets outside were alive with movement—Vespas buzzed past with horns blaring, and cars edged impatiently through the narrow roads. Pedestrians hurried along the cobblestone sidewalks, each lost in their own little world. They wove through narrow alleyways lined with shops, bustling restaurants and cafes. Augustus trailed behind, craning his neck to take in the scenery.
The buildings rose high and close, their worn facades stitched together by lines of strung-up laundry, clothing flapping in the breeze like trapped butterflies. Small balconies jutted from the walls, cluttered with clay pots spilling over with greenery. Cats lounged along the railings, judging people with their sharp eyes. Augustus slowed as they passed a bakery. Pastries he’d never seen before filled the glass cases. Stefan stopped, noticing Augustus’s intrigue, and went inside. A woman in an apron smiled and said something to them in Italian. Stefan was silent.
“English?” Augustus said after a few awkward seconds, glancing at Stefan to make sure he was allowed to speak. Stefan didn’t move.
“Ah! American. I thought you Italian with how handsome you are. What I get you?”
He looked at Stefan but he offered nothing but imposing posture. The silence was too thick. “Two of those please?” Augustus pointed to a pastry that looked like a small bundt cake. Stefan pulled out his wallet.
“Two Baba’s. One for the handsome man,” she presented the cake to Augustus, “and one for dad.” Stefan didn’t look pleased.
They ate the pastries on a bench outside without saying a word and then walked back to the apartment. Augustus noticed familiar landmarks—a few of the stores and cafés they’d passed earlier—but his mind was a universe away.
Without warning, Stefan came to an abrupt stop at the bottom of a staircase attached to a building that was plain to the point of being forgettable, with cracked gray concrete and faded brick. Augustus stumbled and ran right into him. It was as if he walked into a brick wall. Stefan didn’t react. Stefan’s attention fixed on the door of the building, and he tilted his head toward the door, a silent instruction. When Augustus didn’t move, Stefan motioned to him again.
With a nervous glance back, Augustus walked up the stairs to the imposing wooden door. The iron handles were large and intricately designed, their once-ornate details softened by years of wear. Like most buildings he’d seen in his brief time in Naples, they bore the marks of time.
Augustus wrapped his fingers around the cool iron and pulled. The door groaned open, releasing a gust of stale air. He stepped inside cautiously, the dim light casting long shadows across the worn floor. When he finally looked around him, his breath caught in his throat.
It was the most beautiful cathedral Tus had ever seen. Stefan came in behind him, placing some Euros in a small donation box before walking with Augustus around the church. Centuries of art and architecture layered on each other to create a jigsaw puzzle of history and beauty. Tombs dated from centuries past, paintings that looked like they belonged in a museum, gold goblets and scepters under thick glass glistening with precious stones. Under the towering arches and gazes of painted angels, for just a moment, Augustus was able to forget.
After spending over an hour exploring the church, Stefan led Tus to a small pizza restaurant that specializes in handheld pizzas. Tus ate in silence, the meal a quiet intermission before they returned to the apartment. Maksim still hadn’t returned.
Back inside, he finished the pizza and half-watched a game show on Italian TV, the rapid chatter of the host little more than white noise. Stefan and Augustus sat on opposite ends of the couch until Augustus’s eyes began to get heavy. Stefan stared at his phone as Augustus got up and went to his room, but before he left the living room he hesitated.
“Thank you.” Augustus said. Stefan who looked up from his phone and gave a quick nod.
After brushing his teeth, he returned to his room while Stefan continued scrolling. Exhaustion tugged at him—it had been lingering ever since the incident, a weight he couldn’t quite shake. Sleep came quickly.
It didn’t last long.
At the crash of his bedroom door slamming open he bolted upright, heart hammering, just as the overhead lights flickered on. Maksim stood in the doorway, finger on the lightswitch with a gleeful smile.
“Daragoi!” Maksim announced, his tone so cheerful it sent a chill down Tus’s spine. His black button up was disheveled and covered in dust. His hair was a mess and his pants had scratches and pulled threads everywhere. He looked like he had gone through hell and back but his face was that of a kid at an amusement park. Small red dots stood out on his neck like a neon sign. “I have something to show you!”

Python vs Other Programming Languages: A Comparative Analysis
In the vast landscape of programming languages, choosing the right one for a project can be a daunting task. Python, with its simplicity and versatility, has gained immense popularity in recent years. However, other programming languages also have their unique strengths. In this comparative analysis, we will explore Python's features and compare them with other prominent programming languages to help you make an informed decision.
Syntax Simplicity:
Python is renowned for its readable and clean syntax. Its code is easy to understand and requires fewer lines than many other languages, making it an excellent choice for beginners. In contrast, languages like C++ and Java have more complex syntax, which can be challenging for newcomers.
Versatility and Applications:
Python excels in versatility, supporting a wide range of applications such as web development, data analysis, artificial intelligence, and more. Java, on the other hand, is popular for enterprise-level applications, while C++ is preferred for system-level programming and game development. The choice depends on the project's specific requirements.
Performance and Execution Speed:
Python's interpreted nature can lead to slower execution compared to compiled languages like C and C++. While Python has made strides in performance with technologies like PyPy, it may not match the raw speed of compiled languages in certain scenarios. If performance is a critical factor, C++ or Rust might be more suitable choices.
Memory Management:
Python features automatic memory management, which simplifies coding but may result in higher memory consumption. In contrast, languages like C and C++ provide manual memory management, giving developers more control but requiring careful handling to prevent memory leaks. The choice depends on the project's balance between ease of use and resource efficiency.
Community and Libraries:
Python boasts a vast and active community, contributing to a rich ecosystem of libraries and frameworks. This extensive support accelerates development, especially for common tasks. While other languages like JavaScript also have robust communities, the sheer breadth of Python's libraries makes it a strong contender for a variety of projects.
Concurrency and Parallelism:
Python's Global Interpreter Lock (GIL) can limit its performance in concurrent tasks. Languages like Java and C++ have better support for concurrency and parallelism, making them more suitable for applications that require efficient handling of multiple tasks simultaneously. If your project heavily relies on parallel processing, a language like Go might be worth considering.
Learning Curve:
Python's readability and simplicity contribute to a relatively gentle learning curve. Beginners can quickly grasp the fundamentals and start building applications. In contrast, languages like C++ and Rust might pose a steeper learning curve due to more intricate concepts and syntax. Consider the skill set of your team and the project's timeline when making a choice.
Cross-Platform Compatibility:
Python programming is inherently cross-platform, running on various operating systems without modification. Java, known for its "write once, run anywhere" philosophy, shares this cross-platform capability. C++ also supports cross-platform development but may require additional effort. Depending on your project's deployment targets, the ease of cross-platform compatibility may influence your decision.
Community Support and Documentation:
Python's extensive documentation and vibrant community contribute to an excellent support system. Any coding issue or challenge likely has a solution readily available. Other languages, such as Ruby and JavaScript, also have strong community support, but the depth and breadth of Python's resources make it an attractive option for projects of all scales.
Industry Adoption and Job Market:
Python has witnessed a surge in popularity across industries, particularly in web development, data science, and machine learning. Its versatility has made it a top choice for many organizations. Other languages like Java and C++ maintain a strong presence, especially in domains like enterprise applications and system-level programming. Consider the industry landscape and job market demands when selecting a language for career growth or project development.
Conclusion:
Choosing the right programming language is a crucial decision that depends on various factors, including project requirements, team expertise, and performance considerations. Python's simplicity and versatility make it a compelling choice for a wide range of applications, but other languages may offer advantages in specific contexts. Ultimately, the best language for your project will depend on a careful evaluation of these factors and a clear understanding of your development goals.

Ruby: Jaune our characters are not that mixed up.
Jaune: Ruby are you freaking kidding me?
Ruby; Jaune you got admit we are complete opposite to one another.
Jaune: Yes but the presentation makes it worse.
Ruby: How so?
Jaune Ruby I killed Penny.
Ruby: So I killed people too.
Jaune: Name one.
Ruby: Roman.
Jaune: A grimm ate him.
Ruby: Umm….
Jaune: Pyrrha died fighting Cinder against Ozpin’s orders. Ozpin died fighting Cinder. Leon died somehow. Clover and Ironwood I don’t know. Penny died by my hands. So who did you kill with your weapon?
Ruby: Oscar.
Jaune: So a fake Oscar is worth crying over the real one huh?
Ruby: Your point.
Jaune: You didn’t kill anyone. So how are you struggling to kill no fight with your weapon if you never token a life with it. While I’m able to fight with mines despite it’s condition.
Ruby: Um.
Jaune: That can give someone the impression that Penny’s death met nothing to me.
Ruby: But Jaune you had years.
Jaune; PTSD. Survivors guilt. Any form of depression or disorder can last for years Ruby. And you say I had years but Penny was still on my mind during a Ponder Storm. And then I was trying to be hero to the paper pleasers, who mind you were trying to off themselves, because it seems I can not be a hero in Remnant.
Ruby: Oh.
Jaune: Now let’s go back to what you say about not being good enough. How so?
Ruby: Well I failed to save Penny and Pyrrha. I failed to save the people of Mantle and Atlas. I only made things worse.
Jaune: Okay look. There is no such thing as perfect plan. Things are bound to screw ups. It’s impossible to avoid. But again, Pyrrha chose to fight Cinder and died. Penny chose to die. In theory because she thought you died.
Ruby; Um.
Jaune: Next wasn’t Ironwood going to kill thousands.
Ruby: But our plan could get millions in danger.
Jaune: You right, but that forces Atlas and Mantle to get together and stop discriminating against each other to survive. Better that than having one half of the nation fend for itself while the other thrives.
Me; (Look I’m not trying villianize James but we have to admit his plan was darker than the kids.)
Ruby: Oh.
Jaune: And then we have Ozpin. Or Ozma who’s first idea was to sleep with his first love.
Ruby: Um.
Jaune: Use every relic possible but still doesn’t know how to kill her. He single handily divided the world he was suppose to help fix.
Ruby: Mm
Jaune: Exactly.
Ruby: Your point?
Jaune: Ruby, you threw away a perfectly functioning weapon while I have a broken sword with a rusted shield. You killed an illusion. I killed an actual person. You say your not good enough well sweet heart at least you didn’t have to forge your identity off lies and fake transcripts. You had training. You had support. I had nothing like that. Not even from my family. Pyrrha showed me something like that but then she pushed into a locker. Your leadership always seems to go fine. Mines doesn’t.
Ruby: I mean it sometimes does.
Jaune: Yeah. (Until the writers fuck me over one way or the other.)
Ruby: I’m still not seeing your point. My friends helped you more than me.
Jaune: Because you didn’t say shit. My problems were completely visible and hard to hide. Yours were minor compared to mines.
Ruby: No they aren’t. I struggle with my identity. I was too weak. I wasn’t good enough.
Jaune: How?! Look your problem was simple. You had hard time processing change. As well as being overwhelmed by stress. And you know what that’s my bad. Because I couldn’t help you. Why? Because I was already going through of my own problems. I couldn’t make time for you. Your sister couldn’t make time for you because she was prioritizing her own happiness. Weiss couldn’t help you because she was trying to figure out what to do after her home got destroyed.
Ruby: Um-
Jaune: However here’s the thing. Yang was out right now. But wouldn’t me and Weiss neglect our problems to listen to you. Would we not give our time and our ears to you if you asked. Did you think about that?
Ruby: No.
Jaune: NO! You just ran off. Basically you questioned our loyalty to you. You questioned our friendship. You did exactly what Penny and Pyrrha are guilty of.
Ruby: And what’s that?
Jaune: You didn’t give me chance. You made a decision and you didn’t consider how it effected everyone around you. Including me.
Ruby. Oh.
Jaune: I think he can say the rest.
Ruby: *sees me and sigh* You do know a lot people will hate you right?
Me: I said before, I don’t control the show. I don’t control the fan base. I just leave my penny worth opinion down and move on. So let’s start. Ruby I didn’t feel bad for you at all.
Ruby: What?
Me: In fact, I enjoyed your suffering. Mainly when you got jumped.
Ruby: Really? You didn’t feel sorry for me at all.
Me: No. I would… but sweet heart you were a horrible person.
Ruby: That’s not true.
Me: You lied to someone who gave you their trust. That led to them to being more insecure and highly emotional to where they become reckless and foolish. And never took responsibility for that. Oscar did. Jaune did.
Ruby: Alright that just one thing.
Me: One thing? That one thing caused four hunters lives. That one thing caused millions of people’s livelihoods to be ruined. That one thing caused the relic.
Ruby: Okay but I suffered.
Me: Jaune suffered more than you. He went back in time. Had to be Alyx and Lewis Rusted Knight. Only to get poisoned by Alyx, the same girl who he come to find out was killed by the Curious Cat. He waited. He waited for you. Try to find a way home for you.
Ruby: So?
Me: Ruby your problem wasn’t even that bad. All you had to do was open up. Shit my bet is Jaune or Weiss would have listened. Basically your were acting like a child and I don’t care about you.
Ruby: UM.
Me: Shoot I don’t know why cat needed you to get to Remnant. He could’ve tried Jaune. Like bro imagine the reason Jaune and CC had beef because that cat was secretly torturing him. Like CC instead of helping you, was using you to get close to him. And Neo when she destroyed you that should sent him over the edge.
Ruby: …
Me: Basically y-y-you showed me how weak you really are. Like I don’t understand. I get your fifth teen in canon but still.
Ruby: But my friends-
Me: No-no-no. They should’ve token more responsibility too. Blake, Yang and especially Weiss need to start being more supportive to your health. Mainly, because Weiss barely did anything to help Atlas or you at all.
Jaune: What about me?
Me: Motherfucker you need to go home. You need a break. Gets some training. Get some bitches. Go get some pussy. I don’t know. Relax. Cause you earned it. Like I’m sorry but for the much “development” you’ve gotten, I’m surprise KnightFall shouldn’t be canon.
Jaune: …
Me: Bro you fit this post:
Me: Like you have gotten hoed so many times by not just your friends. But the fan base and the writers themselves. Look just take a load off okay? Get help! Jesus, you got to be Salem’s descendant cause life be bringing you pain.

Endings And Beginnings
It's just a new beginning It's just a different ending
This phrase sums up how I feel about the ending as a whole! It was adequate in the sense that we were given what needed to happen. At the same time, it was not as bombastic as it could have been and to me it felt more as a huge set-up for the future, rather than a conclusion.
Don't get me wrong, it manages to wrap up the volume well and it gives an ending to Ruby's journey. And yet, this journey feels more like a first step, than a last one :) And the same can be said about all the other characters.
FIRST STEPS
This volume as a whole doesn't solve character arcs, but rather sets up future struggles, while letting the characters get through the inner work to face their final challenges in Vacuo, much like volume 4 did.
Ruby - She is the protagonist of the volume and gets the focus, as she should. Her arc is to start the process of grieving and of self-actualization. I don't think she has finished neither process btw. Her feelings for both Summer and Penny are not completely solved. The same goes for who she is:
Will I ever be (Complete?) When will I become all of me?
The major step she takes in the season is to simply separate who she si from who Summer is. Or to better say. From who she thought Summer was. She breaks Summer's pedestal and so she can see her own self better.
Jaune - He is the character who gets the most focus after Ruby. And yet, in the end what he gets is simply another chance at self-actualization. Differently from Ruby he doesn't choose himself, but is helped by Alyx, the girl he failed to save. This is not by chance because Alyx is honestly a stand-in for all the girls he failed to save (Pyrrha and Penny) and the one he did/will (Weiss and Cinder).
Alyx's role in Jaune's arc this volume is Pyrrha's role in the whole series. Jaune failed to save Pyrrha, but Pyrrha is the one who gives him the chance to grow and to become the man he wants to be.
Alyx leaves something behind, just like Penny did, in order to help someone else. Penny leaves the powers to Winter, while Alyx leaves her knife to Jaune.
Weiss and Alyx are the 2 characters, who help Jaune the most this volume. Weiss starts the process Alyx ends. It is thanks to both of them if Jaune is able to move on.
Alyx has an off-screen redemption arc. She starts the story by trying to kill Jaune, but in the end she saves him. I think Cinder will have a similar trajectory, just not with Jaune, but with the world as a whole.
Jaune's arc is to let go of his knight persona to integrate his feminine parts and bloom into a maiden able to inspire others, like Ruby and Pyrrha are. This is why it makes sense he is saved by the one he seizes up as the damsel in distress. As for the focus on Alyx, compared to the other and more important girls, the reason is simple. Volume 9 is the story of the Rusted Knight. RWBY as a whole will tell us the story of Jaune arc. Alyx gives Jaune a conclusion to his struggles in the Ever After. His struggles in Remnant are still to be finished.
I also think Jaune's journey through the 7 metals of alchemy keeps going:
Lead > Vale - he is rough around the edges and his armor is gray and juxtaposed with Pyrrha's gold
Tin > Mistral - he integrates Pyrrha's metal and changes his armor
Iron > Atlas - he changes hir armor once again and becomes more self-assured and competent
Copper > Ever After (more or less) - Copper is the most perfected of the base metals and is associated with Penny (a copper penny). Jaune as Iron fails to save Copper and this leads him to stagnate. Hence his armor gets rusted
Mercury (?) > Vacuo (?) > I think Alyx's dagger helps Jaune transition from Iron to Mercury, which is the first of the 3 refined metals
The light of Jaune's transformation looks to me like neither gold nor silver, but a different kind of gray and by the end of it, Jaune is back to his old self. Or almost:
He gains white hair (wisdom) and shows she has done another step into integration. I think next volume he will have some interaction with Mercury (the character associated with the Metal) and will finally become gold.
Neo - I think Neo's arc is ironically the most complete by the end of the volume. This makes sense because it is overall far less complex than the others. That said, she still gets a beautiful conclusion. Her saying goodbye to Torchwick and choosing to ascend in a way which mirrors Ruby (Ruby does so out of a self-destructive wish, while Neo does it in order to change) were both beautiful.
WBY - Despite getting their far share of screentime, I think WBY did not make great progresses this volume. Personally, I think Weiss and Blake's arc are almost over and their roles will mostly be to assist other characters. That said, both have their own moments:
Weiss has a mini-arc, where she starts grieving Atlas and mad at herself and ends accepting her own failure and healing, in order to help Jaune. She also grows strong enough to summon her Nevermore, which commens her team's state of mind. She summons the wings while fighting alongside Blake and Yang and is finally able to summon the whole thing when Ruby finds herself once again.
Blake gets a top off with Yang. She is the one who invites Yang to open up and validates her feelings immediately. Apart from this, she simply shows her positive development this volume and gives us a hint of how much she has grown.
Yang is the one I see having still a little bit to go together with Ruby. Personally, this volume felt like set-up and foreshadowing of the pieces she still has to take care of:
Jinxy's asking for "the feeling of being loved" is left unexplored. It clearly hints at Yang's vision of love as conditional.
Yang seeing Ruby's suicide attempt and her feelings over letting her go are definately gonna be elaborate more later on.
Whatever happened between Summer and Raven is definately going to be important for her.
FORESHADOWING THE ENDING
Volume 9 probably foreshadows the ending. Specifically:
The Tree is the Gods (not in a literal sense)
Salem is the CC
Neo is Cinder
The Tree and her Fruits
The Tree is the Mother of the Gods (Mother Tree indeed). This makes sense with the alchemical journey the characters are going through. After all, this volume was a part of the yellow phase (Citrinitas) and what is the archetype associated with this phase, exactly?
The Wise Man/The Wise Woman also known as the Great Mother
Psychologically, Citrinitas is the first step into self-actualization, which is actually realizing you do not overlap with your parent, but are your own person.
This once again can be applied both when it comes to the macrochosm and to the microchosm:
Ruby starts the journey to become her true self by choosing herself over Summer
The Tree is the Mother of the Brothers themselves and we discover Darkness and Light are in a journey of self-actualization, as well
I am expecting a final meeting between RWBY and the Gods in the finale, but with an opposite end-result. The Tree here teaches RWBY the theme, while I think RWBY will teach the Gods the theme in the end. After all, the whole speech foreshadows this.
From the Brothers' endless fight:
To Ruby finding balance within herself (microchosm):
To RWBY as a whole representing a new found balance (macrochosm):
To the 4 girls becoming full-fledged individuals (microchosm again):
The sense is clear. From the 2 Dragons of Alchemy to the 4 Phases of alchemy, which will lead to the philosopher stone. Aka RWBY is gonna teach the Gods a new kind of balance.
Speaking of the Gods, I guess you can read the Curious Cat and the Jabberwalker as personification of them (they are their first creations, after all). Still, I also think the Curious Cat is a stand-in for Salem.
The Curious Cat (and the Jabberwalker)
The CC and the Jabberwalker are the 2 first creations of the Gods. They are both incomplete in the sense the CC is Knowledge without Choice, while the Jabberwalker is Destruction without Creation. This is why the CC is shown willing to change/transform, while the Jabberwalker is shown willing to "fix" something.
Interestingly, they are both killed by Neo, a human, and I do wonder if deep down this is what they needed to properly ascend and change. Sure, we are told the Jabberwalkers woul make it impossible for Afterans to ascend. Still, after this episode I am not so sure. Do Neo's Jabberwalkers work in the same way? Or since they are "not real" they will simply lead an Afteran to ascend? Just like her killing Little gives birth to Somewhat?
I mean:
The bird the CC sacrifided to Neo's Jabberwalker seems to be the creations the Blacksmith is currently repairing, so... is it possible the CC and the Jabberwalker will get a new chance, as well?
This is more or less what I am expecting for Salem and Ozpin tbh.. just like... with death instead of ascension. I am expecting them both to move on and find peace. Similarly, I think Salem will get empathy, like the CC does, but also she is going to receive consequences and her position is gonna be framed as wrong. I mean, this is what happens to the CC:
Curious Cat: You are broken! You break everything you touch! Like all humans... Weak! Confused! Incomplete!
In the end, the Cat loses because they understimate humanity. They do not consider Neo's feelings, which force them to come out from her body. They also do not understand humans in general. They only see these creatures as breakable and frails, but fails to consider they are also able to heal and to fix their mistakes.
Personally, I think Salem will lose for the same reason. Not only will she understimate her enemies, but she will understimate her own humanity. She herself thinks she is not human anymore, but she is and this is something both the protagonists and Salem herself need to validate.
Finally, I think that thematically, the CC and the Jabberwalker also foreshadow 2 declinations of Destruction:
The Curious Cat was made to make sure the Afterans would change > Transformation
The Jabberwalker was made to finish Afterans once and for all > Death
A Destruction that leads to re-creation, a Destruction, which is an end.
Neo and Cinder
I think what happens to Neo here is similar to what will happen to Cinder. Personally, I think Salem is going to turn Cinder into a Grimm she can control. Still, Ruby will save her and Jaune will inspire her to make a final defining choice, which will help saving the world.
In short, I think helping saving Neo is a first step into the development, which will make Ruby and Jaune ready to save Cinder.
Jaune is the one who indirectly saves Neo, by burning the leaves to exorcise her from the CC
Ruby is shown to feel empathy for Neo and Neo is inspired by Ruby to try and change
In my opinion, the dynamic with Cinder will be inversed. Her experiences in the Ever After will help Ruby develop enough empathy for Cinder to save her. His experiences in the Ever After will make Jaune strong enough to inspire Cinder, when the time comes.
Neo herself is the one who kills the CC and later on she jumps into the Tree and makes a self-actualizing choice (she chooses she wants to change). I think Cinder will make a self-actualizing choice, which will lead in Salem's defeat. A difference is that as for now I think Cinder's choice will lead to her death. After all, this volume confirmed death is still an important theme for the series and for humans in particular:
Alyx was killed by the Curious Cat and did not ascend, but died for real. And yet, her life was not useless as her actions help out Jaune and give him a second chance. This volume has no deaths (except the CC and the Jabberwalkers and even they could be ascending), but this is also because:
The Blacksmith: Yes, only Lewis returned home. The Girl Who Fell Through The World is the story as he wished it had happen.
A STORY YOU WISH HAD HAPPENED
The whole volume deals with grief and its different stages. Specifically it is also a metaphor of how fiction can help you deal with grief. This is why the protagonists find themselves in a fairy tale world.
Lewis wrote The Girl Who Fell Through The World to grieve the loss of his sister.
Summer read this same fairy tale to Yang and Ruby before disappearing.
This fairy tale then becomes symbolic of the process of grieving for Ruby and the other characters. It also becomes a mean for them to face their shortcomings in a setting, which is ironically not as dangerous as their home-world. This is especially true for Ruby, Jaune and Neo.
Ruby luckily goes through her depressive phase here, where drinking the tea-leaves brings her to the Tree to be fixed instead than just leading her to die. Not only that, but through the Tree and the Ever After she manages to make some progress in grieving both Penny and Summer:
Jaune and Neo deal with their problems through entering their favourite stories.
Jaune steps into the story and plays the part of the hero
Neo comes into the story and starts adding parts to it and inventing characters (kind of like a fanfic-writer :P)
Both risk to lose themselves in the narration. Jaune gets stuck in the story for years and Neo symbolically is possessed by a character in the fairy tale. Both are also unable to leave for opposite reasons. Jaune has attachments in Remnant, but can't reach the tree. Neo can find the tree, but can't go through the door. Jaune can't stop playing his character and leaving the paper pleasers. Neo loses herself in her own fantasies. Both esplores fiction as escapism and its dangers.
And yet, in the end fiction is also what helps them both. Jaune is saved by the protagonist of the story (Alyx) and Neo is given the chance to use the magical world of the fairy tale to change.
This leaves us with the Curious Cat, who ironically is just the haters :P They hate the writers, the world and everything, but still must keep on reading because THEY MUST KNOW! They are also very smart and well informed, except they miss the main theme completely:
Curious Cat: Just more fairy tale nonsense!
Sure, Alyx's story is more complex than the fairy tale, but still the fairy tale stands true in its main ideas:
The Tree is the key to going home and finding yourself
Alyx in the end becomes a hero as her final act is not one of hate or selfishness, but of love and selflessness:
Blacksmith: When Alyx's life ended, she chose to leave a part of herself behind. A wish to fix what she had broken.
The same goes for Summer. She was not perfect, like Ruby believed. And yet she still loved her children completely. In the end, Summer saves Ruby. Not as a Huntress, but as a Mother:
Summer: I love you. Just the way you are.
A LITTLE GOOD
I'm not sure. I'd like to think we did at leas... a little good?
And they did. Ruby's small act of kindness in the beginning inspires little into wanting to become more and in the end, they appear changed into Somewhat.
Little is a highly symbolic character and Ruby and Somewhat's final meeting wraps up Ruby's progression beautifully. She doesn't know who she is exactly, but she also knows it is alright because she will figure it out. She doesn't need a fixed identity just yet. The transformation from Little to Somewhat also clearly marks Ruby leaving childhood and stepping into adolescence. Where things are not so simple. So black and white. And yet, it is also a phase of self-discovery and growth.
At the same time, Ruby's goodbye to somewhat shows us the progress she has made on the theme of grief.
On the one hand, RWBY describe Somewhat with attributes that fit Penny perfectly: a friend, a guide, a protector, adorable. On the other hand Somewhat's feelings for Ruby articulate what she herself feels about Summer:
Somewhat: You do feel... familiar. Like a happy dream I can't remember.
Red like roses fills my dreams
This volume Summer went from a dream haunting Ruby to one she can remember fondly and that can Guide Her Way.
Something similar happens with Jaune and Juniper:
Jaune: Will you look after Juniper? She means the world to me.
Juniper being called like Jaune's old team (with Pyrrha in it) and her being a she specifically sounds highly symbolic to me. Jaune's whole arc is centered around Pyrrha and I think that even if we still need to address several points, he has made some progress in grieving her and finding acceptance.
So, it is as a part of Penny and Pyrrha is left by Ruby and Jaune in the Ever After, as a precious part of their childhood and past, while they move forward. And are ready to grow more mature.
APPROACHING THE RED STAGE
The group reaches Vacuo some time in the future and even if the sky is till yellow, the earth looks reddish. It seems we are saying goodbye to Citrinitas and approaching Rubedo, aka the final stage.

Neon Dread
An hour since he disappeared into the night. They tore Vacuo asunder, searching in a panicked frenzy. Each corner, each crevice, Weiss replayed the rage in his eyes.
The hurt, the loneliness, and the brink reaching to pull him in.
In the Ever After he wasn’t shielding his insanity in rusted armor. Is he now?
When they heard the sounds of a fight breaking out, they thought for sure it was another drunken brawl started for some petty reason.
Instead, it had been Jaune brutally dismantling the members of CRDL. Watching him fatally crush Cardin’s skull frightened her.
The confident leader who would never harm another human like that.
Compared to… compared to now.
She felt disgusting for this. It’s true, none of them can sympathize with 15 years of pure isolation, slowly losing your grip on reality every day while trying to cope with mercy killing a close friend.
She should’ve helped more, tried to warm him up to the idea of a group again.
The logical side told her he refused every time. That he was always alone now and wanted to be.
Her emotions crushed retaliation.
He didn’t want to be alone. But he didn’t know how not to be.
Eventually the chase became widespread. News of a missing huntsman who attacked another team spread rampant.
They needed to find him. There’s a very real chance he could be imprisoned for this.
Sprinting past glistening, neon billboards, advertisements, road signs, dancing holograms, Weiss rounded a corner, dipping into a dark alley.
Ruby showed up a moment later and inspected the area with her scroll’s flashlight.
Rain, trash, brick walls, smoke. The knight nowhere in sight.
Weiss: “Dammit!” She roared, picking up a stone and hurling it into the shadows.
Ruby: “Weiss, we’ve searched the entire south side. He’s not here.”
Weiss: “And? What, are you going to give up just because it’s a little harder than you expected?”
The Ice Queen retracted, hanging her head and squeezing Myrtenaster’s hilt.
Weiss: “I’m sorry. I… I’m scared.”
Ruby: “It’s okay. I am too. But he ran this way and there’s not a single trace of… anything.”
Weiss sighed, gazing at the heavens. Rain steadily fell onto her face, soaking her hair and dismantling the braid.
Weiss: “What about the others?”
Ruby: “Guys, how are we doing?” She paced as she gazed at her scroll.
Nora: “Nothing, nothing, nothing. He just vanished! Up and left!”
Ren: “No luck so far. If he turned around the authorities would have him by now. Either he broke into a building or he left the city.”
Ren, ever the voice of reason, had clear panic in his tone. Although Nora’s was obvious, he still tried to calm her.
Blake: “Yang and I just cleared the rest of the residential plaza. I don’t see where he could’ve gone.”
Oscar: “Emerald and I are following a subway tunnel right now. I doubt he came down here, but it’s worth a shot.”
Ruby: “Ok… ok, uh… k-keep looking. He’s around here,” she turned away, muttering. “Somewhere.”
Weiss walked further into the abyssal maw. It wrapped her in shadows the closer she got.
Weiss: “I think this leads to a different back passage.”
The silver-eyed leader joined her friend in peeking back the layers of thick gloom.
Black windows deepened the pit of anxiety in Weiss’ stomach. She imagined blank faces watching as they went.
Turning a corner, Weiss glimpsed a touch of red when Ruby’s light swept the narrow lane.
Weiss: “I-I see something,” She pointed. “Right there.”
The beam revealed unsettling information.
Weiss sprinted to the soaked fabric floating in a puddle. A memory torn, harboring different, darker stains.
Ruby and Weiss stared at it in utter fear.
Ruby: “G-guys, we… we found Pyrrha’s sash.”
Nora: “Where?!”
Ruby: “East Whittaker Street, in a side alley. I think… I think there’s blood on it.”
Oscar: “Do you think it’s his or Cardin’s?”
Ruby: “I don’t know, I don’t know. You’re coming up behind us, see if you can cut off the area near the subway exit. Everyone else, get over here as fast as you can.”
Weiss drew her blade and loaded a slot of ice dust into the chamber.
Methodically, the huntresses cleared their corners, watched the rooftops, and guarded their rear.
Further evidence.
A severed metal leg and a long ponytail.
Ruby raised her light up to see Crocea Mors stabbed into a wall, water washing over the blade. The duo dashed to the sword, inspecting its new cuts and dents.
Weiss nearly stepped in a pool, but withdrew her heel, noticing an odd tinge to the clear surface.
Blood.
Eyes and light uncovered a trail leading into a pitch-black, midnight doorway.
Carefully, they closed. In sync, ready to fight.
Methodical and smooth. Terrified and nervous.
Images flooded Weiss’ brain. Gruesome scenes unfolding, playing into her worst nightmares.
The scroll’s gaze hovered over a gloved hand. White and gold gauntlets. Deathly still.
Weiss doesn’t remember a time she ran so fast. She most likely never will.
He was propped against a wooden door. Head down, hair stuck to his forehead. His face veiled by darkness.
Blood ran down his armor. She tilted his chin upwards. His eyes were shut, mouth slightly open, a pained look on his crimson-stained face. Trailing down his neck was a deep gash. A purple splotch glinted.
Ruby: “We found him, but Tyrian and Mercury were here first! He got stung!” She rambled frantically, reviewing him for further injury.
Emerald: “We’ve got the ambulance coming right now.”
Everything else blurred. Weiss only focused on his sluggish breathing that slowed with every passing second. The cut across his cheek. The slashes below his armor exposing red flesh. A bullet hole in his thigh and the spreading venom.
At some point, Ruby and Weiss wrapped his arms around their shoulders and hoisted him to his feet.
He was incredibly heavy and his concussed state helped little.
The clock ticked away.
He grew weaker and weaker.
Weiss prayed for a miracle. For anything. She wasn’t going to lose him, too. Not after everything they’ve been through together.
She refused for death to take him. He needed to hear how much he meant to them and how bad it hurt to see him in pain.
He needed to hear how she truly felt.
The future where she isn’t able to confess… all of it…
She had to be strong. For him.
